27/September/2008 After a long dead silence, eventually, I am back on line :-) Because of a job relocation, I have moved from Ireland to Belgium. There is too much red tape involved with moving from one contry to another. I started paper work from January, and now it is September, I haven't got my Belgium ID, my medical insurance and my credit card etc. This whole moving procedure is "Holy ShXt", a quote from my boss :-( Thank you Jean Tabel, you found a wrong link in my Tutorial 00. 09/Febrary/2008 In tons of spams like "Wish you were bigger" stuff, I found a pearl with luck. An anonymous person sent me a mail to point out a bug in my Tutorial 03, src.h uses #define PAGE_RAM MAX_LINE*MAX_COLUMNS, which is clearly incorrect, because one character uses two bytes, one for letter itself, another for color attribute. Surprisingly, I found I didn't use PAGE_RAM at all in my code. No matter who you are, thank you very much. 27/August/2007 Another bug has been found by Song Jiang in Tutorial 03 22/August/2007 A bug exists in Skelix Tutorial 02 has been kindly pointed out by Song Jiang. 15/December/2006 After two month waiting, I finally got my working visa, it's not a tough work except infinite waiting. 17/Oct/2006 I got every document done which required by the Irish embassy website except the police certificate of good character. 18/Oct/2006 I went to the local Garda office for that certificate, and I was told the process takes up to one month :(, it is really frustrating to know it takes that long to prove you're a good person...... 20/Oct/2006 I singed the contract with AWSG Ltd. 02/Nov/2006 I received a letter from college to book a seat for the graduate ceremony which would be held on the day 25 Nov, but I think in the mid of this month I should get that police certificate then go back to China ASAP. Because of that very wrong though, I got lots of trouble. 23/Nov/2006 I still didn't get that police certificate, so I went to the Garda office and I was told the process takes up to six weeks instead of one month...... 25/Nov/2006 I didn't join the graduate ceremony and didn't get my certificate of master degree. 01/Dec/2006 I got the police certificate by mail, the issue date is 23 Nov. I called my family at that night and booked a flight ticket on the day 04 Dec, Sunday 04/Dec/2006~05/Dec/2006 Looooooong journey. 05/Dec/2006 I got off the flight at roughly 10 a.m. then went to the visa office directly, then I was told directly my application material is not sufficient, I need a letter from college states from when to when I've been studying in DIT and what degree I've got and a fax of my parchment is also required, and my parchment of Bachelor degree I'd got in China is not enough, I was really #@$$%@#!#@$, because before I left Ireland I send a email to the visa office to ask if I need the formal letter from college and my working place to prove what I've done in Ireland, but they said no, I can make this list by myself. At that night I made a great contribution for the telephone company, and my course director said he would fax the school letter to me but my parchment had been posted to my Dublin address. Then I called my landlord to ask him to open all my letters to check if there is that letter, but the landlord said not at all. 06/Dec/2006 I got the school letter by fax, so I went to the visa office again with this letter and my original exam result sheet with my final award and the exam results of each subject on it. This time I was told by another staff at the counter that I can write a letter to the officer to explain my situation, so I had to go back and write a long letter to blablabla. Finally my application materials were accepted at roughly 3 p.m. At that night, I flight back to my hometown which I hadn't been back for over two years. 08/Dec/2006 I was called by the visa office at roughly 3 p.m. that my visa is ready...... That's exact 48 hours from my application had been accepted. However, that time is Friday afternoon, so there's nothing I can do. 11/Dec/2006 Arrived Beijing on Monday morning, and went to the visa office directly and got my visa directly, then booked a flight ticket to Dublin on 12 Dec. 12/Dec/2006 Loooooooooong journey. Arrived Dublin at night. 14/Dec/2006 I started my work at AWSG Ltd. 15/Dec/2006 I'm in trouble, I still haven't got my parchment from DIT...... 17/September/2006
Some screen shots of my desktop, here is my config file, icons and wallpapers etc. fvwm.tar 05/September/2006 wifstream is annoying, it can not open an file with a wchar_t file name. I saw some people was complaining to comp.std.c++ of this problem as well. The C++ standards committee Library Working Group discussed this in some detail both on the committee's library reflector and at the Spring, 2002, meeting, and feels that (1) names based on types other than char are extremely non-portable, (2) there are no agreed upon semantics for conversion between wide-character and narrow-character names for file systems which do not support wide-character name, and (3) even the committee members most interested in wide-character names are unsure that they are a good idea in the context of a portable library. 01/September/2006 nvu is really buggy, it kept crashing when I was using it to create this website, I had to save files after a few changes, and once a file is over 30KB, each undo action last several seconds. There's no good HTML editor under Linux, I mean as good as Dreamworks under Windows. |
